Acid Detective Case File 01 opening screen for Maya and the Midnight Burn

Teach reflux literacy through play — education product, not a medical device.

Gamified GERD education as Acid Detective Case File 01 — Maya and the Midnight Burn. Players follow clues across three illustrated chapters, classify evidence on a case board, and finish with an educational summary sourced from NIDDK material. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace a clinician.

Client delivery. The product was designed and engineered as studio work for the team that owns it.

Case Study

How the project moved from constraint to launch.

A concise read of the challenge, the system we designed, and what changed once the product reached production.

01

The Challenge

Reflux education is often a pamphlet or a symptom checker that over-promises. People needed a way to learn GERD literacy — meal timing, nighttime symptoms, warning signs — without a fake diagnosis.

02

Our Approach

We built a public case-file game. Three illustrated chapters follow Maya from dinner through evening to night. Clues are authored against NIDDK sources, scored as Case Clarity, and separated from warning signs that earn no points and point to a professional. A written disclaimer states the experience is education only.

03

The Result

Case File 01 is live as a public educational game. Players can open the case, investigate scenes, classify evidence, and read an educational summary. The product does not provide a diagnosis or replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
